Google Duplex is the under-development AI from the search engine giant.
It’s designed to make phone calls on a person’s behalf and although it’s still in development, it has great potential.
If you’re uncomfortable speaking with people on the phone, this could be the answer to your prayers.
Obviously, we won’t know how successful it’ll be in real-world, every day situations, but it’s got great potential.
Google will begin trialing the technology later this year (Summer 2018), within their Google Assistant. It’ll be able to help users make restaurant reservations, schedule hair salon appointments, and get holiday hours over the phone.

As expected, MicroSoft have also got their fingers in the AI pie, with their ChatBot ‘Xiaolce’ (only in China at the moment). The Chinese chatbot appears to be miles away from the Google version at the moment though.
Time will tell if this AI from Google hits the market, or whether it gets sentenced to wither in the annals of Googles failed app bucket. I really hope for the former 🙂
